Huh? Development of the Warp Drive began during the American Civil War then? I think, I'm a pretty decent Star Trek Fan (even on the verge of being a nerd), but THAT information is totally new to me.

Enterprise takes place in the 2150's, TOS takes place from the 2260's forward. However, mankinds first Warp flight was on April 5th, 2063 aka First Contact Day.
OK let's just end this. SW, The empire needs the Deathstar to destroy a planet. ST, either the Genesis device can be use to destroy and recreate a planet or if all else fails Soran's missile can be used to destroy the entire system.
and I dont think the Borg would get close enough to assimilate. And people do realize the deathstar has a whole lot more defense/offense than that huge laser. That's why nearly everybody died
