I've already planned out how my Romulan will start--and I think I'll hold off on another Fed character until I've brought her to level 50. With the new traits system they'll introduce in the update, Alkut's situation may improve. I think the zen at this point is better spent on a retraining token so I can put his skills where they should be.
I still like the idea of playing from a different angle, though, and will probably go there eventually!

Totally agree tobiasosir... I'm saving all my Zen for the new Romulan expansion and retrain tokens. If all works out right with my weekly purchases, I should have a good amount of Zen at launch. I'll definitely be around for any type of group episode leveling / runs, just let me know... we can get it coordinated before the expansion comes out.

Im going to hold out to see exactly what benefits are gained by going kdf vs fed before deciding myself.

I think it's going to depend a lot on playstyle--but there is one big bias. Romulans come with the subterfuge trait, which helps with being sneaky--and improves cloaks. I think a lot of Romulans will end up joining the KDF to take advantage of that...though I'm sure Cryptic realizes this and has something up their sleeve to bring people to the Feds.

Hijaak, I think playing through missions as a group is a great idea! My schedule is all over the place, but I've been meaning to team up with fleet mates when I'm online. Actually, I've been meaning to ask for some fleet help with Cutting the Cord-I just can't beat it.

With the recent announcement that Romulans won't have access to lock box or tier five ships, I doubt it'll make a difference either way now. I'm toying with the idea of siding with the Federation now, just to try out all the ships I didn't get to on my first Fed play through.

BUT...it appears that while you'll have access to ships from your allied faction, you won't have the option to choose one of them for free when you reach a tier--you'll have to buy them.

In case you all haven't figured it out yet, I rolled a Fed Engineer... and am enjoying it a lot! I've planned her out correctly and have level appropriate gear, which is making the space experience much better than the first go around. I still count on going Romulan, but this Fed should be 50 or close to it before Rom launch. I have made my gaming experience very complicated ATM... still spending time to grind rep on my other 50s.

Well initially, I planned my Romulan Toon to join the KDF from the begining and because I wanted to pass a Kar'Fi Battle Carrier to her/him. But since allied T5 Ships will not be accessible, I simply do it so that I can contribute with another Character to the Legion.

By the way, Guys: You haven't decided on my Romulan Toon's fate yet. Smile
