any ideas?

My arc updater keeps freezing up and won't let me log into STO.  Support doesn't seem to have any answers besides make sure Java is up to date.  I can't do a reinstall because I got the game off of my brother-in-law's CD.  Anyone have any ideas? I'm missing out on all the new content and rewards.

You can download the game from either Arc or Steam. Both are free to download and use. I would do a complete uninstall of the game and launcher before a re installation to try to purge any corrupt files. Of coarse, try the java update first and hope that works.

I agree - also there is a force verify on the options panel of the installer, which should check for corrupt files and if necessary will reinstall files.
