It is very disappointing. I used the foundry as a main way of gaining accolades and of course most recently the endeavors.

so i'm just now getting all this info after my hiatus, and i have to wonder if maybe the fan restrictions that shut down places like Stage9 had something to do with it too since it did provide a sort of loophole past the 15 minute rule on creating fan-made trek content... I suppose modding out ST:Legacy is still an option for the art shots that can't be achieved through spawning past the invisiwalls of maps... really hope all that creativity wasn't just deleted and can come back someday from storage, or perhaps one of the star trek offline hackjobs has a copy of the foundry still intact...

I don't believe the reason to shutdown Foundry was taken due to studio pressure. The Devs were fairly clear that it was simply due to a manpower issue as they no longer had any of the original staff who had created the Foundry, and each Quality of Life update to the main servers would regularly break Foundry, creating even more work for an already overstretched Dev team.

It still doesn't make it any less a bitter pill to swallow...
