Quick sum up... so the The Phoenix Prize Pack was created as a Dilithium sync to burn down the Zen to Dilithium exchange rates. When it first started one Zen was up to 450 Dilithium, for the first few Phoenix Prize Pack it dropped the zen to Dilithium substantially It was knocking it down to one Zen per 255ish.. Dilithium. Well after about a year of doing this it looks its no longer effective. Even with this latest one the Zen to Dilithium was only impacted by maybe 10 Dilithium to ~267. We will see more this weekend.
do you thing the era of the Phoenix Prize Pack is commign to an end?
If so what do you think cryptic should do?
Its only high this event because there have had recent phoenix box events and I assume most players do the event for the upgrades not the ships. Last event I noted the exchange rate to buy Zen was at c.240dil/zen I expect over the next few days for the zen exchange to turn around a little.
What they could do is introduce an (epic-rarity) Phoenix-exclusive item. Cosmetics, a ship, etc. to provide more incentive to burn vast quantities of dil. Or they could look at the sales stats, check which items just don't sell in the Zen or Dil stores and put them in the Phoenix store.
Right now I have all the items and DOFFs I want from those boxes and a pretty big reserve of tokens for the next upgrade weekend. I just don't have any reason to buy any more.
We've definately not seen a repeat of the massive dil/zen drop we saw when it first came out. That said Zen/Dil hasn't crept back up to far either. I do think the meschanism kills other upgrade forms (except omega upgrades) as well.
So yeah I am going to call this event a bust, I think the lowest I have seen in go was D267/Z1, I used all the marks I collected in the first evet a year back to pickup Doff and Emotes, but that is about it. The chance of getting an Epic or Ultra Rare are just way too much for my blood, I think we have seen the videos or people opening up a 100 boxes and not even getting a Ultra Rare.
Right now it seems the odds are somewhere around 0.25% for an Epic and 0.5% for an Ultra Rare. With those types of odds, Epic or Ultra Rare items should be should be account wide unlocks not per character. Then maybe it would spur some more interest in going to the event.
Just to give you an example if we go with the 2 for 1 downgrade conversion, then the odd would be
Epic 1.59%
Ultra Rare 3.17%
Very Rare 6.35%
Rare 12.70%
Uncommon 25.40%
Common 50.79%
The other option is to do an up conversion, like take 4 Common and then upgrade to an Uncommon.

I don't think so... I always buy 50 packs and if i get no epic or UR, i convert everything to upgrade tokens.
