It basically props up your beam attack to be as effective as possible.

Popping FAW before completing the cycle means that the beam attack won't have the benefits it would have had if you had of completed the cycle.

So just to get my head around what your saying, if I pop FAW when the beams have just started their firing sequence I'm not going to get benefit. Which means wait till the beam cool downs are at 1 second then pop FAW. 

Is that right?

If you pop FAW while the beams are firing - any beams fired after that point will be affected by FAW

It's going to take less than 2 seconds to click off all the abilities you want/need.

However, it should also be considered that your piloting will increase your dps too
