Discovery Thoughts *SPOILERS*

Chris I hadn't thought about Spock! That's an interesting point!

I think the war ended with a whimper rather than a bang, but a clever whimper. I enjoyed how Burnham, the instigator of the war, ended up turning Starfleet away from a path that would have it ignore its beliefs and ideals and turn to genocide.

I'm also intrigued who will be Discovery's new captain.

I loved that ending, and I have to admit as the registry of the ships ident came up a smile crept across my face..NCC-170..and then she swooped in. The old girl!

Apart from some small embellishments to her overall design she looked pretty much as she was before JJ trek. The nacelle pylons looked like they had a gap towards the trailing edge but hey...its the lady Smile

Made my night! Smile

Shame we have to wait so long for season 2 though. I really have thoroughly enjoyed this new look Trek.

I definitely award this new series 9 out of 10 tribbles Wink

I was a little surprised at how they ended the war. I was expecting it to continue over to season 2, but I think they did a decent job of tying it all up. L'Rell will make for an interesting leader for the Klingons, especially with Tyler with her. And I have no doubt the Emperor will be around to cause trouble for seasons to come, as well as Harry Mudd (brilliant casting of Rainn Wilson in my opinion).

I'm also quite interested to see who the new captain will be. Not sure I should assume it's a Vulcan since they were on their way there, but it'd be an interesting choice.

I couldn't help but smile when I saw the registry numbers popping up on the screen. As soon as the comm officer said "Captain Pike," I noticed the look between Burnham and Sarek and immediately thought, "Spock!" His appearance in the show should be interesting, though I'm sure there will be shouts of rage from certain elements of the fandom over the casting, no matter who they get.

Ohhhhh, the Enterprise. How lovely she looked in full HD, and in her (mostly) classic appearance. I don't even care about the little differences in how she looked. Have to admit, I got a little misty at the last shot and then the TOS end credits music. Pretty damn awesome way to wrap up the season. Can't wait for the next one.

It's all been said already and I have to agree. I had my reservations about Discovery, but I have NOT been disappointed. I can't wait for Season 2. It's going to be a tough year.

They've done a good job overall with the series. I'm curious to see how they'll handle the interior of the enterprise, if we get to see it at all. Maybe some sort of cross between the old look and Discovery's more modern look. What about the uniforms? Does the crew have Discovery's uniforms or the old t-shirts? Definitely a lot to look forward to, assuming Season 2 takes place where 1 left off. That would be cruel if it didn't lol

For those outside the U.S., here is the same exclusive cut provided by Netflix.

I guess, the meaning of the black insignia is now revealed. But it raises more questions. Why would there be active Starfleet personnel openly wearing it, like they did in episode 3?

Looks like you already found the below, but in case people are having problems viewing it on netflix, etc:

It's with mirror Philippa deleted scene from the end of the finale after she has set herself up on Q'onoS

When I first saw episode 3, I suspected the whole discovery ship was section 31. (Heck, it even has 31 in it's NCC number...)
So, later it was that the captain was a mirror, and so he ran things differently.
Besides, that first episode on Discovery was weird with them going to bed when there were black alerts, and stuff....

Chris
PS: So they have a deleted scene from the Discovery Finale; how many other deleted scenes? (With all access, I don't remember any deleted scenes from episodes? Only on DVD/Bluray?)

The scene looks like it came out of Star Wars.  I haven't seen it yet, i might try to do the week free thing and binge it in a day. But eh section 31 and the mirror universe is not something I want to watch.
