Discovery Thoughts *SPOILERS*
#1
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!

I have watched all the episodes and have had some interesting thoughts on the show.

First things first the mutiny of Burnham though adhering to Starfleet protocols is always what is supposed to be done. I also am looking at it from her point of view she was trying to save her captain and ship. A noble gesture that showed she cared even if her judgement was clouded. Is it possible Starfleet treated her wrongly, as they didn't know the whole story?

Second thing is the black badge we saw in the first episode could this hint to Section 31? We know they're shrouded in secrecy, but as they have changed Star Trek from the original so much it is a possibility they could be a part of the ship. Among other drops in the show like NX-10(31) or "Black Alert"

I know what Black Alert is from, but this is all just speculation.

Third the Tardigrade which is an important factor in the show was actually possibly going to be a Starfleet Member however that idea has been scrapped by the directors. It would've been cool to see it's integration into the show, however I guess all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Last is the Discovery itself a ship shrouded in secrecy and it's captain even more so which leads me back to the second point could they truly be apart of Section 31?

As all this is speculation or just my personal thoughts I'm interested to see what all you guys will add to it. I look forward to see everyone's opinion.

Ah yes. I haven't watched this weeks episode yes but I am convinced there is either a Section 31 or mirror universe thing going on here. Or maybe both.

Agreed! What did you think about the mutiny?

I think it was some what justified under the circumstances and the punishment was a bit severe. She had insight and intel they didn't have. They probably should have taken that into consideration after the events that unfolded.

Exactly you understand what I am thinking. Yes she did overthrow the captain, but look at all she did as the first officer. And all we don’t know that she did. In another topic Seru is starting to agitate me. He’s holding on to all that hatred and for what? It’s not helping anyone especially himself!

You should be listening to Capt April, he's been around a long time and knows his stuff.
It IS Section 31. that trial wasn't any bit proper with how machiavellian, dark, and shadowed it was. all that theatrics was to get her out of Starfleet as fast as possible.
And in no way would there be a shuttle full of high level prisoners dipping through a nebula with only one pilot that barely knew how to drive. SOP is to have them on an escort, well armed in case a ship full of mercenaries comes by looking to "recruit". And it was pretty coincidental that they happened to be right below the 1031. All of that was to get her to Lorca

It  can't be the Mirror Universe that we know of since the Terran Empire was already well established since ENT time and on its way to conquer qo'nos by Pike's time which is supposed to be right now.

and that kleegon hiding from the giant water bear in the corner going "shhhhh" was totally a nod to Deadpool (the bad one from The Wolverine)

I'll have to bum a public hotspot and torrent the episodes to see them for myself since CBS is really going sue-happy hard on "leaks", but the youtube channels are keeping me appraised.

In contrast, Star Trek: Orville is doing GREAT, and Patrick Stewart and Scott Bakula's appearances are coming up soon Smile

From what I have heard about the show it feels section 31ish.  I will wait to see if the library gets the seaosn on dvd.  IF that even happens. But I do watch youtube stuff so I know what is kind of going on.

Now Orville feels more like a Star Trek show to me.
