equiping crafted omni's
#21
beams have a 2 second firing duration and a one second recharge downtime.
turrets and cannons have the reverse: 1 sec on and 2 secs off.
omnis and turrets have roughly the same dps. But when measuring the same amount of shots, it's still going to be more hits for beams, especially an omni... at least for episodes and pve missions.

there are lots of players that will PVP using just turrets.

I might have to look into building a beam boat... have 2 loaded up with turrets. May have to get my KDF toon to go with just an old-school Klingon disruptor armed ship.

If you do and can't afford to get the Coalitions, use the disruptor sets from the Undine and Terran Reputations and fleet advanced for filler. biggest punch besides ap weapons in most cases.

crafted disruptor beams with my fed captain and then upgraded all to MK XIV with 4 at epic and 4 at vr.  Put them on the 23d cent dread prototype cruiser..... inital runs look promising though.  Will have to research the Coalitions. Thanks!

I can understand Cryptic not wanting to deviate too much from "official" star trekkieness, but ship creation and equipping should be left to the players within reason..... besides they might find they make more money if some of the console restrictions were lifted too.
Which is the reason I didn't buy the miracle worker ships, (I would have bought all three if the consoles were truly "universal"- meaning "useable" in any of my starships....I REALLY wanted to use the console from the Tucker class in my main toon's sci oddy flag ship)

  • Omni-Directional Tetryon Support Beam Array (from Competitive Wargames Reputation, pretty much only useful in PvP, if at all)

So far, we "only" miss a second Omni-Directional Phaser and Plasma Beam. Pretty sure that those will come. By the way, there is a very VERY small chance, that you got an Omni-Directional Beam from the Lock Box Weapons.
Yeah that competitve tet omni was a easte of an ultimate tech upgrade (ironically had my hopes up for using that one in a tzenkethi based pve...)

At least in the rear weapons slots, I would agree...

Ok.....now embarrassed that I've played a year and a half and didnt know there were "fleet versions" of weapons as well as consoles/engine parts.
