request r&d assistance

I ran the request r&d assistance mission at the starfleet academy and did not receive the aegis doff reward.  Wiki says this mission is repeatable, but when i tried to do it again, the option is grayed out.  Why? Is there a cool down timer to repeat it? or do i have to do all the other missions offered by the assignment officer before i can attempt it again?

As far as I know this can only be accepted daily - there is only a chance of getting the doff, not a certainty

The extra doffs you pick up at the Academy and NRC have a 2-3 day cooldown... getting the aegis doff is the same system as gambling for a lockbox ship... best done during off-peak times around a quarter till the next hour.

Just keep trying till the next recruitment event in another year or two and you'll get one as part of the promo period. I got one as part of the AOY temporal Agent event, and those that were around for Delta Rising got one then too if they made a new toon for the premiers.

You will also receive the other doffs that allow you to craft speciality R&D items through that same assignment, but you can also get better VR ones through fleet assets or the Exchange so no worries if you inadvertently donate your common level R&D crafters to fleet credits.

i spent all that time bumping my R&D to 15 and now i have to spend who knows how long to "gamble" for the doff?  damn...... well i suppose i'll have plenty of time to boost the other schools then since i can't craft any aegis untill i get the doff.  I've been donating all my commons for the fleet credits and i'm still bouncing around my doff limit (125) and don't really want to spend zen for more slots since my doff categories are becoming more and more limited as i reach level 4 in them.

yea that's all part of why i'm "meh" about crafting and doffing.... but again, those R&D Doffs can be obtained with fleet credits too. its just a matter then of breaking down all the green doffs to make 3 commons for every 1 green to donate into credits and clear out some space for the better doffs.

if you really want an aegis set and can supply the materials needed, there's plenty of fleet mates that can do the crafting of the set for you.

are you saying you can purchase the aegis r&d doff through the fleet?  if i remember correctly you can purchase doffs at the fleet starbase right?

you can get other R&D Doffs through the fleet but the aegis is only craftable via Gunmare through the R&D assistance assignment at the Academies (and as a bonus for new toons during a recruitment event), OR Prof. Jefferson Hawk from the Xindi Lockboxes... the set is from 2010, so it doesn't really get much use anymore... unless it gets a revamp as part of the rebalance
