This is the first new thing in a while I'm actually excited for, I kinda wish there were more things that I missed available.  Getting the JHAS for my JHDC would be really nice, might even upgrade to the t6 carrier if I can get the Attack Ship.

Doesn't having the Carrier plus the JHAS mean you could get the Frigates for the Carrier?

Yes it does, that's why I want the JHAS.  The JHDC is a great ship if you want a tac based carrier but it being so hard to get it's frigates is a big negative.

This guy hear opened 920 boxes (that's 3.68 mil dil !), and only received 2 epics.

This doesn't necessarily mean the drop rate is 0.002% for Epics.
It just could be that Cryptic put an invisible cap on the amount of epics each individual toon/account can win.

Little very basic cost/win comparison:

At the very least you receive an uncommon token out of each box, which you can trade in for a Phoenix Upgrade Tech.
Each Upgrade gives 51200 TP at no extra Dil costs, which is the equivalent of 4 Superior Tech Upgrades.
Superior Upgrades usually cost 1075 dil each, so 4 would be 4300 dil.
If all you ever win are uncommon prizes, you lose about 200 dil per box, if you buy them as single packs.
Buy 10 packs @ 40000 dil = 4000 each pack, you effectively gain 300 dil per pack. 
Win just a single rare, and the winning start rolling in.

Bottom line: As long as you only buy 10 packs, you can't lose.
You might not win the prize you  were hoping for, but you will always come out on top.

I should have known better than to get excited about anything in this game that is effected by RNG.  Spent 120k dil on these things and didn't get any Epic or UR tokens.  Sometimes I hate this game and right now is definitely one of those times.

I tried not to get too excited, or to expect an Epic or UR drop. I definitely would love to get my hands on the Krenim Science Ship (2nd the Nandi), but don't really need any UR (but wouldn't mind the JHAS either).

So far I dropped 160k dil, and got:

0 Epic
0 UR
14 VR - traded in for RMC, Shotgun and Crystalline Torpedo and Kit Module, nothing left, so rest downgraded to upgrades
29 Rare - traded for Console, Tanius Card and both Doffs; nothing left, so rest downgraded to upgrades
Rest Uncommon - got 3 missing Tribble, all 3 combat pets (that was a mistake...), the Phoenix Pet, rest upgrades

I am happy I got everything I wanted from the lower ranks. Really hoped for the epic ship though.
