This week, I was finally able to get back into Tribble and take a look at the return of K-13 as a new fleet asset with the start of AOY Part 2: Artifacts

Just like we saw in the Temporal Agents starter arc, the station is highly detailed on the inside and out, right down to the interior of the shuttle bay. There are three docking ports on the dark side of the station, and unlike DS9, are true to scale. They can accommodate smaller starships directly when side docking, or any starship if docking through the bow. Vessels the size of a Support Cruiser or larger may require arranging for walkway extensions for proper clearance from the adjacent storage domes.
The background graphics are also quite stunning with the proper settings for the new lighting engine that will also be debuting on PC with Season 12.

The only problem with it is that it is all backlit.

There are many different ships that will populate the space around the station in the asteroid belt of a barren planet. There are more ships zipping in and out delivering supplies and crew here than any previous fleet map. These ships include a fleet of Delta Class Shuttles, 2 different Tuffli Freighters, and a random Frigate on perimeter patrol (I only saw a Centaur and a ShiKahr).

The Republic has sent a Ha'apax warbird to assist in revitalization efforts with its immense cargo capacity. There's even a Ferengi D'Kora to take crew to an "exotic destination" for shore leave.

Each variation of the Star Cruiser was also present at random, with an Assault Cruiser refit variant in its place on one visit.

Interior:

Beaming in, I am right where I need to be to check out the Bank, Mail, and Exchange on the Console to my right off the pad. The Lobby also has a meeting room on the side. The transporter pad is also the disembarkation point to take a shuttle to the other fleet assets.

The Lobby also has the Docking Master (Ship Selector), Officer of the Watch, and Ship Assignment Officer (Requisitions). Throughout the halls, there will be a number of doors, but only blue doors will open. Each area has side rooms to explore as well.

On the Right side of the map, will be the Biologist (Trait Enhancers) and Xeno Equipment Vendor. The side rooms here are labs, with studies being conducted on a dog-like creature that does tricks, similar to a tos style targ.

On the left side of the map, are the Retrofit equipment, Tailor, and Personnel Officer. The side rooms here are filled with the stasis pods and the necessary improvised support equipment.

Easter Eggs:
The area also has a number of Easter Eggs! DSS K-13 does have a plaque on the wall at the end of a corridor. As you'll find out with the Officer of the Watch mission, there are a number of rogue asteroids flying by either side of the planet at +15-30 km away from the station. You can shoot 10 of these for fleet marks through the mission, or just use them to test out your new retro gear in zone. These asteroids all travel from the top of the map to the bottom, but are at full impulse speeds. if you follow them to the bottom of the map, you will find stationary asteroids.Interesting tidbit is that they are actually grouped as Gorn!

While out there, you may also encounter some Spaceborne lifeforms. These will usually be a pod of 6 Gekli moving from left to right on the map. If you're lucky, you may even get a chance to study some Star-Jellies as seen in "Encounter at Farpoint." Who knows what other life may be out there...
