I understand the time for commendations and having certain thinks accomplished to get said commendations but I know from when I was in the military if one wanted to advance quickly there was a way and these were called mustangs because of their rise in the ranks quickly and willing to do what is needed to get up in the ranks. just a suggestion make other things dependent for rising in ranks and the commendations should be a separate thing but you get points toward advancement. the points would vary depending on the commendation I know I am knew to this fleet but trying to make it easy but yet more realistic. I could help set this up. and another thing is flag officers had a staff that worked with them to get things done creating these staff may open opportunities for others lower in rank to serve the fleet in a capacity as staff.

The way you can earn promotions in our fleets is the easiest and frankly the most fair way there is. I might be inclined to agree with you, if you had to earn like 20 Commendations for your first promotion, but that is not the case.
Getting four Commendations to become a Fleet Captain is easy. Getting eight Commendations to become Commodore is just as easy.
You have it in your own hands. If you want to be promoted faster, then work towards that goal accordingly by earning the Commendations.

I have been working toward it I just thought a more realistic fleet would seem better ie. you are in charge od commendations and as an admiral you would have a staff to assist you in all you do

When I started in the fleet a little over a year ago, i h ad no commendations and no rank. It doesnt take long to get rank in this fleet. As i have already let you know, the only time related promotion is the 1st one. The rest are totally up to you. Yes some require a fleet run to get, but there are others that you can do solo and get promoted up to commodore with just those. This system has worked well for STO Academy and I foresee no changes being made to it.
Also being a former military man myself, your use of the term 'mustang' may be a little off:
A mustang is slang term in the United States Armed Forces, referring to a commissioned officer who began his or her career as an enlisted service member. Mustangs are older and more experienced than their peers-in-grade who entered the military via commissioning from one of the service academies (such as the United States Merchant Marine Academy, United States Military Academy, United States Air Force Academy, United States Naval Academy, or United States Coast Guard Academy), Officer Candidate School, or the Reserve Officer Training Corps. During the Vietnam War, however, when some Army warrant officer pilots were offered a direct commission to 2nd or 1st Lieutenant, they were usually younger than 25 at the time of commission.

Stun, right there are several things that you seem to not exactly comprehend about the fleet and the game itself here. Please note I'm writing in a personal capacity, I'm not a member of fleet leadership.
First of all, please format your posts with paragraphs and full stops, etc because I am finding them very difficult to read.
1) STO Academy Fleet is not the military. STO is a game, and STOA is a CASUAL FLEET and therefore your premise of it needing to be "more like the military"is frankly false and in fact in my own personal opinion would be detrimental. People have lives and responsibilities outside the game, and so they don't have the obligation to participate fully if they don't want to, say for example myself, Im not in-game during the week due to educational reasons.
2) Fleet Ranks- please understand that the "fleet" is not really a military style 'fleet' as per say. It is a group of players that get together to help each other, have fun and enjoy the game- NOT a military organisation that i mentioned in the last paragraph. Therefore the ranks are used so that we have people who have certain more responsibilities in managing the fleet and its members. It is not to do with someone outranking someone, it is meerly an indicator of how much commitment someone has had to the fleet. Only the leadership team have power over enforcing existing regulations and managing the fleet as a whole.
3) Commendations are frankly the best way at this stage to determine promotions. The majority of them ensure that if you want to be promoted, then you need to show dedication and commitment to the fleet or the game- the commendations do that by setting tasks and goals. The people who work with the fleet and are ingame more and contribute the most therefore get promoted. Its not clear about what you mean about points tied in with commendations- again due to your formatting.
4) Fleet members attached to admirals- This is something that UFP use, and it works due the fact that they have so many specialisations within the fleet itself. Don't think its good for STOA as the admirals simply don't need help of other members with the daily managing of the fleet- that's their job. And fleet members don't need to "gain experience in leadership of the fleets' as per say as in order to be put in the leadership- like Kenthend recently, you need to gain the trust of the community as a whole, as well as show dedication to the fleet- from commendations and being in chat.
Hope this makes a couple of things clearer now. Please, I know that you are new to the fleet, but honestly there are reasons for why things are there, they have had lots of thought behind them, and the commendations are working really well- people are taking part in runs they normally wouldn't do- like the STOA Elite Ground Squad and HGE for example.

No you're not in trouble stun, but please find the information you need to present your idea clearly and in a concise fashion with a reason backed up by credible facts or observations.

Again I am sorry if I offended anyone that was not my intent. It was a thread for suggestions and I figured the fleet was open to suggestions not to have someone make a suggestion so they can be attack for what they say. With all that said I ensure you I will not make future suggestion as I don't want to offend anyone or make people upset over just a harmless suggestion.
As far as the True Fleet vs. the STOA Fleet, I know they are different but sometimes even a group and change some structure to make things better but things I see I will keep my mouth shut on for I do not require to upset others or be attack for something that is no more than a suggestion.

I find it quite disturbing that you think that if someone opposes your idea or disagrees with what you have to say, you think your in trouble. At no time did anyone say anything about you being in trouble and from what I have seen from the responses to your posts in the forums were either people trying to help you or explain why we do the things we do.
