Why I have been away....
#1
Hey everyone, just wanted to post something to let you all know why I haven't been around in case anyone is interested...

Back at the beginning of this past April I decided to go to the emergency room because I lost the ability to walk and wanted to know why.... the last thing I remember after getting to the hospital was transferring myself from the ambulance gurney to the emergency room bed. I was told after I came to a couple weeks later that I had gone into respiratory failure (from double pneumonia) and came very close to dying.... no joke... on top of that I came down with sepsis from the pneumonia (in case anyone wants to know what sepsis is:Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening complication of an infection. Sepsis occurs when chemicals released into the bloodstream to fight the infection trigger inflammatory responses throughout the body. This inflammation can trigger a cascade of changes that can damage multiple organ systems, causing them to fail.) and my body filled up with a great deal of fluid to the point where my mother barely recognized me. Then... as if that wasn't enough, my father passed away in April from complications to pneumonia... (man if I didn't know better I would say that it was a cosmic April fools joke.)

Anyhow I am better now... the only thing now is that I have to use oxygen pretty much all the time now. I plan on getting back into the game once I am in a place of my own and have things set up.

Damn dude, I'm sorry to hear about your pops and all the things you're going through. I pray that your father will find his way to the gates of heaven where he can join your ancestors in ever lasting peace.

As far as you go I'm glad to hear you're coming back. I can't begin to comprehend what it must of been like to go through all this all at once. Remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

In the end we will all have to meet up with our fate and face death, its how you face it that matters. God bless you and yours.

Be safe

Wow, thats quite a load to carry, I'm so sorry about your loss, losing your father is rough. I'm glad you're feeling better regarding the pneumonia, and sepsis though from what I've seen being stuck on an oxygen tank is rough in it's own right. Will you be able to stop using it as you get better? In any case, welcome back Sevenpenny, if you could use any help refamiliarizing yourself or with info on game changes I'll be happy to help, as no doubt the rest fleet will be as well.

Another (relatively) new person, here... and I would like to echo the condolences above. I can't imagine the loss you're feeling, but I really like what Mal said and hope your father's at peace now.

Further, glad to hear you made it out of the woods... I almost lost a really close (only 37 year old???) friend to pneumonia last year, so I have a tiny hint of how scary, fast-moving (and then a super-long recovery) that all can be.

All that's a lot to go through, though, so respect for making it through (no matter how low or high your head mighta been at points) and I hope the rest of 2015 treats you a ton better.

And, more germane to where this conversation is taking place, WELCOME BACK...
