NCC-1701 Refit... 1/350

Pylons are complete except for assembly. I'll have to run some wiring through them so they will remain in sections until the ship final assembly begins.

Also got the deflector dish section mostly complete.  There are some minor wrinkles to work out due to the shape of the parts, but that's not a huge challenge.

The aztec decals at this point are remarkable subtle.  They're almost suggestions of details rather than highly obvious liked the ones I used on the 1701-B ship.  Look close at the pylons, they are there.

Chris
It's a simple spray enamel transparent blue.  Good old Testors.

All of the transparent bits on this kits were just clear to start with. Nacelle inside radiators, impulse engineering dome, and the deflector all got the blue transparent paint job.

Incidentally, the kitten I mentioned earlier survived.  He lost the broken leg (pulverized bone) but will otherwise recover.  Got someone already looking to adopt him. Smile

Well, there's not tons to report at the moment. The various bits of the ship are all either completely painted or have little detail bits to do.

The bad part is most of these bits (and any further assembly) have to wait until the light package is delivered. So I'm somewhat on a forced break while I wait for it.

On the other hand I can go through and do test fits here and there... trim flash.. fix minor goofs... etc etc.  But you can only do so much of that before you really want to get the ship built.

So it's a waiting I am.  Soon as the lights arrive, I'll be back at it.

Do you order a light package specific to that ship?

(The only lights I have put in were part of a millennium falcon I did when I was little and were basically little Christmas lights in the engines! )

Chris
It's the package by Trekmodeler.

Yes, it is an "OUCH" for the wallet.  But since I'm currently planning for this to cap a hobby, it's a good one to end on.

And I am still waiting on lights.  Who knew 6-8 weeks really meant "eternity"?

It's a minor grumble really. I'd rather wait for a well built light kit than get a slap-dash job.

Yep. Very much so.  But God has been good to me the last few years so I can do a few things like that here and there.

Heck He even lets me travel a fair bit too.

Still waiting on the lights.  Estimated delivery time was 6-8 weeks and week five just closed out. So let's hope I see them soon.  This ship is getting a tad dusty waiting for final assembly.

And with week seven coming to a close, the TrekModeler guys have said my lights will be shipped out next week.

But the build bug bit again and I started a new Excelsior-B.  It won't be near as complicated as the 1701-Refit even though I'm drilling out windows and custom marking it for my ship in the game.

Go ahead, tell me I've lost what few marbles I had left.  I can take it.Tongue
