For my first act as Head of Operations, I would like to set up a Crystalline Entity private fleet action for us. I was talking a few days ago on fleet chat with people who had never done it successfully. They have tried, and they have been stuck with morons who don't read forums or any walkthroughs. Cryptic holds a special event for the crystalline entity every day, but at different times. I wanted to post this on the forum to get a consensus on who is interested and when they are available. We'll need a big team to take this *thing* down! There is a trophy and dilithium offered for the in-game reward. If your interested reply to this thread, and I'll work out something for us. I want to give people plenty of notice to get "geared up" for the fight.
Also, Attilio put up a fantastic walkthrough for the Crystalline entity on the site, so be sure to study that and print it out if possible to reference during the event. If anyone has actually completed it successfully, please include that with your reply. Most likely the person (or people) who have destroyed the crystalline entity before will lead the charge. I want to give us every advantage that we can. You can also use this thread to ask for help with gear or training.
Let's get the whole STOA Fleet together and save the galaxy from this dangerous menace!!!
I have not attempted it yet, but would be happy to give it a shot!
Edit: Having just read the walkthrough on site this seems very doable, my question however is there any particular beam which is more effective. I run all beams anyway so a wepon swap for this event is no big deal lol.
I would love to do this. I think I have only completed it once. That was 2 years ago when the game was first released and there had to be like 30 people in the fleet action. Frankly, at the time I didn't know what I was doing lol
The walkthrough on the STO Academy website is the best one I've been able to come up with, before we do it we should talk about the strategy. Be ready for the strategy to change during the mission, and for it to take a LONG time lol
That is better than anyone I've talked to yet. I think you just volunteered to lead this expedition boss! You wrote the book on defeating it, the rest of us just read it. I fully expect this to take a while, which is why I started the thread to make sure people can be available. Nothing makes me more mad than people who drop out of elite STF's because it "takes too long"
One of Murphy's laws of combat says that "No plan ever survives first contact." I agree with Attillio in that we should use this thread to talk about the strategy once we get people to agree to do it. It may not be possible, but I'd love to get the whole fleet together. We'll either cripple the server, or we'll beat that thing! Attillio, you said something that bears repeating here.
Be ready for this to take a LONG time!

I cannot answer the first part of that question, I would assume that there isn't. From what I have seen in other game elements there isn't really any special "vulnerabilities" built in to the damage types. I can suggest from my own experience that you pick a single damage type and equip consoles or abilities that enhance the damage with that one type. From what I understand this thing has an insane amount of hitpoints, so we need to do massive damage without torpedoes. I am thinking about turning my Intrepid into a beam boat for this mission. I also think we should work on equipping ourselves and our ships to withstand this particular entity and it's damage type (which seems to be kinetic).
I'd be interested, depending on when you have it. Week ends are best for me, because I do have to work sometimes during the week. I'm thinking I might bring one of my Dreadnaughts since the Entity is a stationary target and the spinal laser might actualy do some good against it. I'll have to read Attilio's walkthrough to see what else I need to put on as weapons.
