I would not buy the entire set.
I made the (in hindsight, dumb) mistake of purchasing just the Charal variant of the Andorian Escorts. I got it during a ship sale and as much as I decided it had the best console layout of the 3 for survivability it was also a play on maxing out what I could buy with me zen given that it was in the middle of a sale. Personally speaking the pets of the Charal, Wing Cannons, are nothing special on their own. Sure I was seeing them as an extra weapon for a layout of 6/2 in crude terms but they still felt a little lacking at times.
So I love the look of the ship so much and went a bit OTT getting more zen during a zen sale (thanks Cryptic for emptying my wallet) and decided to purchase the other two ships to make it a complete set. Not that the ship hadn't already proved itself to be fantastic but it really came alive when the 3 piece set is equipped. - 2 piece bonus: Synchronised Targeting, a 10% accuracy bonus. As someone who loves to PvP and already had a high accuracy rate thanks to my weapon choices this was a very welcomed bonus. Always on, always making a difference and the equivalent of an [Acc] mod to all your weapons. Possibly one of the better 2 piece bonuses period with perhaps the Adapted MACO Space 2 piece bonus to torpedo damage amongst other things. The 3 piece, Wing Cannon Synergy, is what I believe the most powerful 3 piece bonus in game right now. So your Wing Overload and Tachyon Bursts (massive spike damage to hull and shield resistance respectively) also get a second version fired from your Wing Cannons. Pretty neat, right? I believe the even better and in the long run bigger bonus is that your Wing Cannons also mimic special attacks Cannon Rapid Fire and Cannon Scatter Volley. Sure, these aren't huge spike damage monsters that can 1 shot or significantly damage a target like Wing Overload, but think about the numbers this way: Assuming you have maxed skills training for cooldown reduction on your boffs (clearly most will!) cannon abilities share a 15 second global cooldown and last for 10 seconds each. So for 20 out of 30 seconds your wing cannons are firing and at a much faster rate because they share the firing ability rather than firing every 3 or 4 seconds whenever just your wing cannons do. That is what makes the 3 piece a truly great and powerful piece of kit. It was my own stupidity that stopped me from getting the 3 piece in the first place. Don't make that mistake! ![]()

Don't worry about it. Almost did that the other day. Buy only one, I mean

Quick question: Does the Tharalon Burst on the Rommie Dread only work if all three consoles from the set are on it?

STOwiki is not helping me, cause it doesn't show the combos for those consoles. And guess where the first 3 pages of result from Google go to..... I will try the Dev Blog, though.

It's on my list, but my KDF toons will get Borts first. |
