CombatLog Reader

Hello this is your Omega Admiral Mal, Here's how to Run and install CombatLog reader.

1. Download @   http://tinyurl.com/onc6wd6

2. Extract the File.

3. Open up the Java Icon titled "CombatLogReader"

4. Go into STO, run a STF or PvP doesn't matter; prior to shooting your target hit ENTER then type in /combatlog 1  to start parsing. After the engagement hit /combatlog 0  so it'll stop recording.

5. Go to the CombatLog Reader program, hit "browse directory" at the top left. Now you must find your OS ( C: ) or wherever you have your Windows OS installed, whatever drive you're using. Once you've found that go to:

Program Files (x86)
Perfect World Entertainment
StarTrek Online_en
Live
Logs
Gameclient

There you will find the file called "CombatLog" double click that and hit "Read CombatLog!"

Finally be sure that up top the NPC box is unchecked. And that's all, if you have any questions be sure to let me know on here or in game. 

(Remember this might not work for all of you, as we all run different OS.)

Or you simply use the new CombatLog Reader provided on this website. No need for extra programs as it is web-based.

TacPaddy, I respectfully disagree.

The DPS Channels Combatlogreader offers TONS of information that is extremely valuable for evaluating your build.
For example it allows you to figure where your damage is coming from (what weapons and in what %), your BFaW to normal array damage ratio (you should aim for 3:1), you base damage to actual damage ratio (you should aim for 2:1 on a well debufed run) etc etc.

So, if you are interested in analyzing your parses in depth, IMO the CLR is a must-have tool for those interested in the subject. It also allows you to upload your parse on the official league table. 

Of course, not everyone may care about in-depth parse analysis, in which case the STOA tool is a great starting place for getting the basics.

However, I would still encourage those who want to analyze/optimize their builds and performance in depth to use CLR.

Just my 2 cents of course.

If I may ask.. how do I find the proper files on 10.9 Mavericks?

Right click on the STO app and select 'Show Package Contents.' Then, within that finder window, navigate to Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/StarTrekOnline/Star Trek Online/Live/logs/GameClient ... Look for CombatLog.log and that should be it.

Brilliant tool.  Helped me improve my build completely.  Hopefully I understand it lol
