Tribble Test Squad - Akimalyn2380 - 10-20-2016 I'd like to request the formation of a Tribble Test Squad- where a group of 5-10 of us will meet at a prearranged time and date on the separate Tribble Test server for the sake of testing out new skills and items before committing to Respecs or spending millions in EC on something that may not work out for us in Holodeck. For instance, in my quest to reach 100k as discussed in my Icarus build thread, I had contemplated respecing to one of the ultimate skills trees. I now know I want to do a 10/26/10 Science Ultimate configuration, but there's still many ways to achieve that for the sake of making sure I don't become a glass cannon. I have been using Tribble a lot in the last few days, mainly for the K-13 scenery review thread i did, but that whole time I was queued for ISA and never found anyone to join in over there... hence my request to the Armada and any allies willing to help. It took a week for me to just find someone willing to send me a fleet invite there too. Granted, testing on Tribble does require a full re-installation of the game to a separate area on the hard drive, but being able to do unlimited free respecs and try out any reputation item can prove to be invaluable to the testers. I know what that's like, had the "Tribble crashing at Engage bug" 3 times already in the last year and it's one of the biggest problems tribble users find. it's so big a problem, that tech support no longer deals with Tribble! (I asked) Only successful way i've found is to wipe the shard completely and reinstall all 16+ gb of it. I did come across another solution of copying over your local files in the live shard to the tribble shard to see if it's a DirectX configuration issue, but was already reinstalling when i found it. RE: Tribble Test Squad - TacPaddy - 10-21-2016 You should also take into account, that most of the time, the Tribble Test Server is only accessible by Gold members (monthly / lifetime subscription). Also a "re-install" is not literally necessary. Go into your Star Trek Online folder, copy the "Live" folder and paste it into the same folder as the "Live" one. Then rename it into "playtest". Then simply patch. Depending on your bandwidth, this should save quite some time as patch like 2-3 GB is better then downloading / patching 16+ GB. Couple of questions: A) How are you realistically going to pre-schedule even 5 people (also gold members) to meet together at the same time. In the past we couldn't even get one for even fleet runs. B) Why would you need 5-10 people to test stuff with? C) Is the stuff you are testing being discussed on Odenknight/ Valikinfx's/ u/lowlifecat's channel already? Good Luck RE: Tribble Test Squad - Akimalyn2380 - 11-05-2016 The idea was to get 5 people to do isa runs (10 for cca) in tribble, so that we could freely respec and change out setups there without being committed to those purchases on Holodeck that may not work as hoped. But that doesn't matter any more for me having done a respec already. but that doesn't mean i wasn't frustrated/upset about it. And yes I was going to try several different setups that I've seen on the videos, since not all who do videos are entirely truthful, as I've recently found out that some users aren't showing the same gear that was used for the runs they film in all those different "budget builds". (a ship full of MK II turrets winning a PVP? NFW!) When I break into 150k territory, I may even be tempted to start a Mythbusters type video series on such things. So, if anyone needs help on Tribble, all you have to do is ask me since i'm on every day for most of the day. |
