Thank you sir!!!
As for torps, also bear in mind that the plasma torps do a DoT that can, at least partially, ignore the shields. This is uber important on the Borg Queen in space - her shields are always up, so if Hijaak is struggling to do damage until shields are gone, then old Queenie will just laugh. A plasma torp at least starts to damage the hull.

Also, a lot of things in STFs have no shields (gens, trannies, gates, CSE spheres) so a torp will be hitting directly on the hull.

Also don't forget that, with a decent build and 3x DHCs + torp fore, 3x Turrets aft, a cannon scatter will take out the facing shields of KASE probes and CSE BoPs, then the torp volley takes the hull to very low.
Good stuff to learn. I've been using the specific energy consoles after reading the responses on this thread. Usual tactic to keep the shields down for the torp is to get it down to red, then throw a rapid fire cannon skill to keep it that way until the torp hits the hull. It's not 100% (what is?) but it does do the job more times than not. Helps to be flying an escort for that strategy too.

I've taken to using transphasic torps quite a bit as well. That 40% shield bypass comes in handy.
If your going to use Torps I recomend either Quantum or Photon for DPS. Quantum hits harder if you use High Yield Torp or Torpedo spread, if you dont do either of those then Photon has higher DPS as it fires faster. If DPS isnt your biggest concern then others are good too.

I have also taken a decent Plasma torp on Monti to get used to it for when I get the Omega torp. The High yield is jolly good as is putting the plasma fire on many targets with the Spread.
Well, I'm still mostly energy... I decided to throw a Quantum torp on board, due to the fact I have an extra Tac Boff position with no cannon skill at Ensign. I've actually read through Hilbert's guide and build, http://hilbertguide.com/ and there's some good information. I did respec into his "universal" build and my DPS is still great. The skill choice for Boff's is a little slow IMHO, meaning, the cool downs on the torp skills is too slow, but they are effective. I've judged all my builds off Starbase 24 and how I rank in the scenerio. I know it's not accurate, but there's so much going on with 20 players, I think it's a pretty good guide to how you rank among them. With Hilbert's build, I've ranked number 1 on 5 out of 7 scenerio's.

I'm running two ships right now, both fully equipped. My HEC is gunning with Phaser's and the Fleet Escort is gunning with Antiproton. I honestly can't tell the difference in damage, they both are very effective and frankly, badass! If you check out Hilbert's information, let me know what you think... it will give me a sanity check on if I know what I'm doing or not Smile

Thanks for reading, I know I just keep going and going.....

Hijaak / Tao'feng
the only issue with high yield plasma is that it can be targeted and destroyed prior to hitting target. Not sure if the NPC target them or not though.
