Small Craft PvE Event

Well, well, well! The next Shuttle Event Weekend is upon us. So, I decided to take you into some Small Craft PvE Queue Maps. This is a rare opportunity for you as participating succesfully in the first two listed maps will grant you the Small Craft Warfare Specialist Commendation. That Commendation is pretty much easy to get, yet so many people seem to be afraid of Small Crafts. So, come on! Pick your Shuttle / Runabout / Fighter and let's show the Universe how it is done!

Core Event Data:
  • Event starts April 8, 2017 @ 1900 hours UTC. (What's that in my Time?)
  • Social Meeting happening with Event start at Deep Space Nine, so that we can take some commemorative screenshots at the start of the event.
  • All characters of at least Level 50 are eligible to participate.
  • NOTE: The use of Discord is highly recommended. You don't need a microphone, though. The ability to listen in on strategy talks and given orders will suffice. If you are not yet set up for Discord, then you can find instructions here.

This Event post was created with TP's STO Event Creator utilising MS Excel and VBA."Yes, I got bored. Yes, sometimes I'm lazy. Deal with it! xD"
Good thing!

While at it, how about a run down on different shuttle builds?
What sets/consoles are going to help in this event?
OK, I want this commendation TP!

what preferred build loadouts would you recommend for each faction?

I have the Class F, Type 8, Delta, Peregrine, Danube, Yellowstone, Kestrel, Tiercel, Toron, and To'Duj to choose from.
I would like to try for this one to. Even though I hate shuttles and trying to fly them.  I think I need to get a shuttle though.  When I got some new ships I needed to free up some slots.  What would be a good but inexpensive build? Would parts of a rep set be a good thing with some of the universal consoles.
To be honest, I don't think we've ever done these things with prepared shuttle builds - just banged on whatever and flown them in. They don't really need a lot and they're quite restricted.

Shuttles can be bought for EC at the shipyards.

My thoughts exactly. Chris. Big Grin

If at all possible, do NOT pick a Small Craft that you can get for 30k EC for the Ship Dealer. Those are nothing, but craptastic. Rather look at the Exchange, if you can get your hands on a Tholian Widow, Voth Heavy Fighter or the Vaadwaur Pythus Fighter. If you happen to be a 400 Day Gold member or LTS AND have no Small Craft yet, then you can opt for the Captain's Yacht (UFP), DujHod Chariot (KDF) or the Commander's Gig. The Commander's Gig has a build-in Singularity Jump, which may be useful in certain situations.
If you happen to love Cannons AND are a top notch pilot, then Fighters like the Peregrine, To'Duj or Scorpion may be an option. Iirc, in the past, the Delta Flyer and Yellowstone Runabout were given out during promotions. You may want to check the promotions tab in the C-Store to see, if you got it.

As for the builds: Due to the limitations regarding BOFFs, Weapons and Console slots this one is really tricky. Imho, don't waste the Console Slots for Vulnerability Locators/Exploiters. Choose something different to make the most of the Small Craft. I use a Vaadwaur Pythus Fighter (build here), which is highly experimental. I used to equip it with two omni-directional Tetryon Beam Array, but now I put the Terran Task Force Disruptor and Torpedo on it. They both increase in damage as the target's hull decreases and max out at +200% damage when the target's hull is at 25%. Also I use the 4pc Iconian Set specifically for the Team Benefit of having regular chances of increased All Damage, temp max Hull and Flight Speed.

In the end, it's a bit of trial and error. Fortunately we won't need to complete the optionals, so there is no pressure. Big Grin
I have read that the Aceton Assimilator Console has shown great results on Shuttle builds, and the effect looks amazing.

The Dyson Weapon Set might be an interesting option, as well as the Nausicaan Disruptor Set.
Both have Beams and Torpedoes, and the Nausicaan Torpedo is Disruptor based, so any
+energy and +Dis boosts will benefit both weapons.

Or maybe you don't use any Torp and load 2 Tetryon or AP Omni-Beams, which will let you shoot your target(s) non stop. Add FAW, and you might look like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmPGuMGs8cg (forward to "Death Blossom" at 2:24)
my plans have changed and ill be unavailable again... will have to go for the commendations another week.

So, we did it tonight. The following fleet members qualified for the Small Craft Warfare Specialist Commendation:
  • @dammitjim76767
  • @chelly#7549
  • @foulius
  • @Trudard
Congratulations for a job well done. Here are two screenshots we took at Deep Space Nine. We hovered above the Habitat Ring and waited for the Wormhole to open. Everyone was using the newly acquired Phoenix Holo-Emitter:
