just received a pop up stating that support for my video card ends March 1, 2017 and i will no longer be able to play the game without upgrading my video card. This is very distressing as i just bought this laptop less than a year ago from a big box electronics store. Has anyone else received such a message?
What laptop do you have, and what GPU does it use? Or does it even have a GPU?
Unless you bought an older floor model you should still be okay. The list of usable GPUs isn't too bad, even for older systems:
Quote:If you are budget conscious, any of the following cards will function. Many of these cards are several years old, but they will still provide a basic Star Trek Online experience.
NVidia GeForce 8000 or better
ATI/AMD Radeon HD 2000 or better
Intel G965M Express, or Intel HD Graphics 2000 or better
You might have to upgrade your driver, or change the ingame settings.
by default, the game still is set to use dx9. if you just got the laptop, all you'll have to do is change the game setting to dx11 and install the software for it if its not already part of your windows upgrades.

after some tech support from Nvidia, they had me install a new driver which, after a quick log-on seemed to work, but only time will tell. FYI i have a GTX 960M with 4GB dedicated graphics ram.

Nice! Then you have nothing to worry about.
