We are excited to introduce the Phoenix Prize Pack, making its Star Trek Online debut when maintenance concludes on December 1st, 2016.

Just like Zefram Cochrane’s experimental vessel, the Phoenix Prize Pack blazes a trail into new frontiers! And, following in the model of its mythological namesake, the Phoenix Prize Pack also represents the return from the ashes of items, ships and other rewards that have been retired from Star Trek Online, and are no longer accessible by any other means. Purchasing and opening this promotional prize pack will offer players the unique opportunity of obtaining many otherwise inaccessible items, ships and equipment, which were previously available from events or promotions, or as other limited-availability rewards.

tl;dr - Gamble away your surplus dilithium with the tiny, tiny chance of getting a T6 vessel. Or a tribble.

OMG. Finally a chance to get those emotes I yearned for, as well as the T5 JHAS. Not to mention the RMC.
Since I reactivated my account again late October I have been mourning the missed opportunities for some great ships.
Somehow the STO Gods (Devs) have heard my wishes for a chance to get them.
I would love to lay my hands on the Nandi and the Krenim Science Ship! Of course
And Zefram Chochrane's Shotgun? Total need.
To be totally honest, looking at the list I only have 2 things: one emote and one of the tribbles.
Let's hope it works out.
Good luck to you all on this!
Also note : 1 free box per day!

To celebrate the debut of this new promotion, all players will also have the ability to claim a free Phoenix Prize Pack once per account, once each day while the promotion is active.

Which is awesome. Compensates a little that this is coming right after Upgrade Weekend, where many blew through their Dil-Reserves...
That is exactly why upgrade weekend was such in hurry and unannounced. Somebody counts on players empty dil pockets...

Long Term players already had everything upgraded, except for the occasional toon, and probably still swim in Dil.
Which will change this weekend. They either get the last things missing, are get cheap Zen.
While newer players are Dil-poor and get tempted to buy Zen to buy dil... good job Cryptic... sigh
And I'm one of those suckers... need that Krenim ship, and the torp, and the console, and the shotgun, oh, and the Red matter thingy...
I wouldn't jump so quick to making sweeping generalisations like that about long-term players. You make it seem as if they're all lifers with infinite resources.

I might be a long-term player but I'm not swimming in riches, and I haven't got all the prize ships and items for various reasons! This is a great opportunity for long-term and newer players alike!

Yes, the statement was very general. It was also meant a bit more sarcastic then it appeared in the end.

I did talk to some players yesterday and saw others posting on reddit that they sit on over a mil dil and just waited for an opportunity like this, for the prizes and the Zen opportunities. At least they claim they have those amounts in their dil-vault. That is a lot of dil, but certainly obtainable if you have several toons. Long term players in general tend to have more toons, which means more ways / opportunities to gather dil, even if it is just by doffing and admirality. Sovery generally speaking, Long Term players have more dil saved, and can gather more dil over time, compared to players who just recently started.

This is the first new thing in a while I'm actually excited for, I kinda wish there were more things that I missed available.  Getting the JHAS for my JHDC would be really nice, might even upgrade to the t6 carrier if I can get the Attack Ship.
