Full Version: Account Linking Promo -- problems with it?

I'm not sure about how the exchange rate is going to be after this revamped website, but obviously, if it's the the same as before the revamp, 100 zen = 80 cpoints, the prices you are paying for your zens should be higher for the same amount of cpoints you usually buy.
I have been playing sto using my perfect world account from before (don't remember when i got it), haven't really seen any significant problems though, but since I'm a f2p, i cannot speak for buying of zens. And the "earn zen" is quite full of bullshit. There's only a few "free" surveys that actually worked for me to earn the free zens for conversion. Only managed to get 217 cpoints worth.
My own thoughts on the linking of perfect world to cryptic (I don't have a cryptic account so i'm not sure), i agree on the free items on being the bait, but you don't have much of a choice besides linking to perfect world to buy ur zens to convert to cpoints. Though an alternative would be pay through Steam wallet for the cpoints. the last i check was $62.50 for 5000 points, which is still the same rate. Given a choice, I would rather pay through steam wallet for my cpoints if i buy, since i trust their security over perfect world.

I had nothing but problems when I tried to link my Cryptic Gold account to my Silver PWE account. The instructions for the linking process were confusing, incomplete, inconsistent and, in some cases just plain wrong. When, after two and a half hours, I got to what I think was the end page, I got a message that I could link my accounts because my PWE account was "already linked to another account." I would have asked them whose account it was linked to, but my Silver PWE player doesn't have access to Tech Support because he's Silver, and my Gold Cryptic player couldn't access the PWE support because he's not a PWE account. By the way, at one point in the process I was totally unable to access my Gold account information. Whenever I would Google Startrekonline, the website would reroute my search query to the PWE website.

After sleeping on it, I decided that the simplest solution to the problem is to cancel my PWE Silver account. I'll be spending the next day or two emptying the equipment and weapons out of my ships and off my BOFFs. Since most of the equipment is bound, I have to sell it at a vendor for ECs, use them to buy something else on the Exchange, then mail the new stuff to one of my Gold alts.

Does anybody know any way to transfer Latinum between accounts or spend it on something other than useless wall plaques or fifteen minute ship costumes? I never use it, except in the occasional "Play Dabo" DOFF missions, but I hate to just leave it in my character's account when I cancel it.
I put in a ticket, got a response that didn't help, then edited the ticket and got back a response that said, "I have forwarded your concerns to the appropriate personnel." The ticket was then marked "Problem Resolved," even though nothing had actually been resolved, except to confirm that Cryptic Tech Support couldn't help me. I am now in the process of phasing out my Silver account completely.
