Full Version: Theta Squadron: Attempt to get the Small Craft Specialist Fleet Commendation

Hi everyone,

I don't know about you, but I like Shuttle and Fighters. Therefore I like to form "Theta Squadron" in an attempt for us to qualify for the Small Craft Specialist Commendation.

In order to get that one, we need to complete successfully the two Shuttle PVE Queue missions
  • Atmosphere Assault (the one where you fight Elachi Shuttle and Walkers)
  • Vault Shuttle Event (the one in the Vault, where we take the Vault back with Obisek)
on advanced difficulty. I like to hear your ideas on how we can do this in the best way. For example, I plan to bring my Tholian Widow Fighter to the Vault, but would take my Commander's Gig to harass the Elachi Walkers in "Atmosphere Assault".

Let's share your thoughts.
Sign me up TP!  I'd love to help out.  As for ideas on getting though the missions I have nothing for the Vault as I've never tried that mission.  I think for Atmospheric Assault you want something a bit tanky if possible, but if you can bring something with fire at will that would seem to be helpful.

For Atmosphere Assault I thought about being the Walker Attacker. Using the Commander's Gig Singularity Jump was helpful in the Episode. I'm gonna slap an Aceton Assimilator on it as well, so that should do some help.
Oh yeah, the aceton assimilator would be very helpful there.  I'll have to remember that.

I have never messed with shuttles, really, outside of story missions and normals during events, but I'm stoked to break out the Yellowstone and learn a little bit about how to build and fly a shuttle. Anything to distract me from the ridiculous plotlines.

So, I work on some theoretical builds for my Tholian Widow Fighter, my Voth Heavy Fighter and my Commander's Gig.

I'm not sure, which Fighter to take into the Vault, but I am sure to take my Commander's Gig into Atmosphere Assault. Its Singularity Jump is awesome to attack the Elachi Walkers.

I use a Kobali 3pc Set on all of them for Survivability. On the Fighters I use the Rapid Firing Missiles. They firing every 2 secs and have a 180° Firing Arc., On the Gig, I use Beams only.

Have a look and gimme your feedback.
I would be up for this... Good idea. Problem with me though is that I only have a vanilla danube runabout with spare gear on. Hope this would be ok.

Yeah, for some reasons Nimbus is still usable on Fighters, although it is not supposed to be.

Kinetic Precision refers specifically to Projectiles, so I assume it does work. Nevertheless, I consider switching it for Accurate.

Looks like you haven't changed your DOFFs, I know there are a few that help TacTeam and SciTeam, and it might be worth picking up a few blues on the exchange
-So, since this ship has the two Tac consoles to boost Tet damage, I might use the forward weapons you planned for your Gig, since you'd get better Tet boost for your build that uses two tet forward weapons.
If you make that change, I might also change your BOFF Tac power to be something that helps beams.
(And then certainly remove the Kinetic Precision trait, as I noted above.)

My bad. The build is supposed to show BFaW1 and HE1, not TT1 and ST1.

I might run the missiles on this build, and the DBB on the Widow, as I mentioned earlier.  (With the 180 degree firing arc on the missiles, you might better recover 'target lock' after doing a singularity jump.  (Maybe you might want to see if you could get two 360 degree weapons for that reason, but the lump probably has too long of a recharge to be a factor.)

I think that console will help with the singularity jump.
I presume you will put something fun in the device slots.

The Gig benefits from the 2pc Nukara Munitions which boost Tet Damage. Also given the amount of Elachi fighters, I thought this may be a good choice for BFaW1 when I make my approach the Walkers, while the rest covers me. In the end it is Trial by fire, so I will keep your recommendations in mind.
