Hello everyone,

this thread is rather a recommendation than a guide per se.

I have noticed, that most builds that are posted here are incomplete. If you seek advice on how to get your build better, this makes it a bit difficult.

I recommend, that you fill in your Skill points as well as your Traits, Reputation Traits and Starship Traits (if any) that you use. If possible, it would also be helpful if you list your DOFFs on active Duty by specialisation.

Why do I ask you to do this? Well, mostly without you even knowing, you have wasted Skill points for Skills that will give you little to no useful bonus whatsoever. So a respec of your Skills could be an option. Or maybe you use a Trait, that served you well in the past but has little or no practical use on your new Ship.

I do not ask you this, so that we can get a hard laugh or something.

I ask you to complete your builds, so that you can help us to help you in the most effective way possible.

Live long and prosper, Qapla' and Jolan Tru.
I'll second that.  It is very helpful to see the whole picture when asking for help on a build.  I'd just like to add that it is also quite useful to see the BOFF space traits listed along with the active DOFFs in the notes.
First off, thanks for this pointer, TP... and thanks to you and Will and everyone in chat who workshopped my build for a minute earlier in chat. While I'm excited to get some (requisite) fleet gear, I'm certain my ship is going to be a lot stronger just on the knowledge folks have shared; that's a sort of 'fleet gear' in itself.

So, just stopping in to express gratitude to you, to Attilio for the Skill Planner, and to the entire fleet for being so generous with what we all know.
I noticed today that a lot of the titles for build threads are.. not informative. Could we think about a style guide or something so that browsing the threads is easier?

For example, "Could someone comment on this build, I keep dying?" could instead be "Fleet Star Cruiser - Support Tank - Beginner - Gearing Advice" ?
(Ship type - desired role - experience/wealth - type of help wanted)

We could, but then again it'd be a bit hard to enforce. Generally people do put the name of the starship in question though
G'day guys, newbie here.

What am I doing wrong? Every time I click on someone's build, it takes me to the editor, but doesn't show the build. The name for it is there, but no build.

Thanks for any advice.

Click through the links in the left menu. Whatever information the owner put in there is what you'll find. Not everyone fills everything out.
I honestly think that Skills, traits and everything else MUST be filled out otherwise asking for help is not getting you anything. And there are those out there that are trying to get an idea of where to place their skill points, but there are very few builds that have their skill tree filled out. It makes it hard to get help and makes it even harder on those that are looking for a hand up.

So, please, to all those that post your builds, please fill EVERYTHING out. It makes it easier on everyone else.
Greetings.

Would someone please remind me how to save a build.  I'm recently awoken from a four-year cryo sleep and apparently, I've forgotten.

I've definitely done it before, as evidenced here: https://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?user=Michlo.

But I tried twice last night, filling in EVERY piece of information, getting a link to the build and then when I checked the link, it was to a blank build. Sad

I'd prefer to know for certain before trying again. Smile

Cheers.
On the left click Main Menu, then at the top click Save. Enter a name, make additional selections if you want, and save. You'll be given the link to it. You can also load your builds form the main menu too.

The link you provided is not a valid link to a build. Not sure where you got that from.
