Too bad that the Ship, that I speculated about to be a Carrier, turns out to be a Cruiser.

I don't know why, but I'm not too thrilled about those Ships. Maybe I'm annoyed that the Feds (once again) get more love here. I mean 4 Starfleet vessels, 2 KDF vessels and 2 RRF vessels? Come on!

Well, maybe I'm a bit biased and just too focused on a T6 Scimitar and due to my wish for a Romulan "Big" Carrier? Wink
Keep in mind that these are only the initial ships. Frankly I'm not too surprised about Fed. We have one of each for Fed, plus the Galaxy clone because Cryptic knows they'll make money from it. What I am shocked about is no T6 BoP. Perhaps it'll come later.
Well I really like what I see and will get a T6 ship for each faction BUT, and there is a big "but" and I cannot lie, with all FED ships getting cloak AND sensor analysis, KDF getting Battle Cloak AND sensor analysis, RRF getting Enhanced Cloak AND Sensor analysis on top of 5 levels of mastery and bridge officer slot there is no way a T5-U ship is even remotely close to being competitive against these things. I predict that while lock box ships and lobi ships that were previously released can be bumped up to T5-U, newer lock box ships will be made T6 so they will actually sell. Unless this move is to get players interested in playing faction ships over special ships.
Looking at the descriptions here, I'm seeing the words 'light', 'stealthy' and 'nimble' a lot. I'm wondering if these ships are going to be a bit less durable or well-armed than the T5Us, with the Intel Boffs and new abilities making up the difference. If so, the T5Us will be a lot more competitive than many people have feared - you could stick with your tried and tested T5 and upgrade it or go for a T6 and explore the new options.

>>>Klingon Empire Starships

Why not Klingon Defense Force Starships?   Change coming?

Jem'Pok's regime on the way out?  Or since all factions are unified against a common foe, they changed the name?

Chris
I don't know. Ever since Branflakes went on to his new Job, they seemed to be less accurate on detail. At least, that's how I feel.
I don't see the problem. The KDF is the military force of the Klingon Empire, so any KDF ship is a Klingon Empire ship. Both are correct.
I'm not keen on any of them. Same old crap. I mean, phaser lances as consoles? AGAIN with the crappy burst-damage consoles that do almost no damage and take 5 mins to cool down? Just, STAHP, cryptic, STAHP!

The BOFFs are a gimmick. How do I know that? Because Cryptic can't do smart, or intelligent, or even creative anymore. They're just recycling the same elements that are already in the game but repackaging them as new, uber, awesome.

TBH I wouldn't even bother upgrading my T5 ships, except one. Just one. The Fleet K'T'inga Retrofit. It's so abused by Cryptic in the stats departments (the ONLY fleet ship without a universal boff?? REALLY??? Less hull than most escorts?!?! REALLY???). I might upgrade that just to get the extra hull points.

Other than that, the majority of the ships showcased are decidedly not Trek, and the aesthetics are rather fugly (lookit that cruiser without your eyes watering, I DARE you!).

On top of the massive push to scare people into paying real-world money to upgrade all their ships on all their toons, they're charging WELL over $100 USD on the starter pack alone, and pushing it quite aggressively. It's a double kick in the teeth for what is proving to be more and more of the same rehashed content.

Don't get me wrong, I like the storyline missions. I think they should focus on that. Make people WANT to subscribe again. Give us story to work with. PvE queues don't count without the story leading up to them. Instead, they cloud the real jems, the storyline missions, with all the crap and fluff regarding "new" ships that hurt the eyes and "new" boffs and "new" types of gameplay.

That's the problem with the theme park style MMO, you have your hand held from the first block of content all the way to the end. It takes weeks to put together a good bug free mission with dialogue & working triggers... it takes the average player 30 minutes to plow through it IF they bother to read your well thought out dialogue.

On topic...

I, for the most part, like the ships. I'm kind of hoping the odd electric blue on dark blue is just a material option as it's already a pain in the ass to see ships on a black background. But I can also understand peoples complaints about them moving too far from the core source material as these really don't look like Fed ships at all.
KDF and rom ship : WOW enough to make me think i should play my reman and my Klingon more (then again i have about 15 kdf ship i never loaded...)

Fed: a bottle opener, a wrench and a ratchet (or pizza slicer) and an ugly galaxy wannabe.

If the specs are right i'll get the pack. But someone REALLY need to start understanding what a fed ship is supposed to look like (starting by being white, not blue) . They should look at community design again. The odyssey is still one of the best looking ship around and it made sense has a design evolution. Those 4 look like someone didn't liked curve or design them in 8 bit with all those sharp edge. The first 3 would make a nice addition for a new race, the last one... well didn't someone got fire when the game started for making an exploration cruiser looking like that during the game development?  I also hoped we would have less DPS oriented abilties...Rom got some nice deception power like the shadow image. offering more option like that would have been nice.

And PLEASE stop putting a stupid window/light in front of the bridge... watch the show, it's not a window!

I want that romulan ship !

I'll agree that the Fleet K't'inga does have a lower hull and shield strength than the other Klingon battlecruisers, but that's not surprising as it's the most agile in terms of turn rate and only the Mogh beats it for inertia rating. As for the lack of a universal slot, it simply isn't the case that it's the only Fleet ship without one. The Federation alone has 13 Fleet ships that don't have a universal Boff slot:

Fleet Science Vessel Retrofit
Fleet Research Science Vessel Retrofit
Fleet Long Range Science Vessel Retrofit
Fleet Deep Space Science Vesel
Fleet Reconnaissance Science Vessel
Fleet Caitian Atrox Carrier
Fleet Escort Retrofit
Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier
Fleet Tactical Excort Retrofit
Fleet Advanced Escort
Fleet Advanced Heavy Escort Retrofit
Fleet Exploration Cruiser Retrofit
Fleet Star Cruiser

There are plenty of Klingon Fleet ships that don't have one either.
