Full Version: Fleet Patrol Escort Shield Mod: Broken?

Hello folks, I hope you don't mind if I post about this here. I'm sorta looking for others to confirm my findings, and possibly put tickets (bug reports) into Cryptic about it.

The Shield modifier on the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit appears to be
bugged as it is under performing. When compared to the shield modifier
on the Fleet Chimera it arrives at a lower number using the exact same
shield and equipment. Below is a comparison of shield facings between
the Fleet Chimera, and the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit, with all traits,
and equipment being equal. I've removed things like Impulse engines, warp engines, Eng and Sci consoles to make sure they did not interfere with my results.

System Space: Sol System, and Japori System (Tau Dewa Sector)
Fleet Chimera Shield Modifier, according to Shipyard: 0.99
Traits: identical for each ship loadout
All Eng and Sci Consoles: removed
Engines and Deflector: removed
Fleet Elite Adaptive Resilient Shield Array Mk XII [Cap]x2 [ResB] [Adapt]: 8594

Fleet Patrol Escort Refit Shield Modifier, according to Shipyard: 0.99
Fleet Patrol Escort Refit Shield Modifier, according to Dev Blog #20*: 1.045
Traits: identical for each ship loadout
All Eng and Sci Consoles: removed
Engines and Deflector: removed
Fleet Elite Adaptive Resilient Shield Array Mk XII [Cap]x2 [ResB] [Adapt]: 8033

We can see that the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit shield facing is lower
then the Fleet Chimera, indicating that the shield modifier is lower
then 0.99 (assuming the shipyard description for the shield modifier on
the Fleet Chimera is correct). However, according to the Dev Blog #20,
it's shield modifier is supposed to be 1.045 so the final shield facing
number should be higher then the Fleet Chimera.

I did file a bug report for this, but I'm asking for some good folks out
there to check to see if I've done this right and can verify my
results. Or, if I am incorrect maybe someone can show me where I went
wrong. Thank you!

EDIT: I wouldn't mind if someone else who has the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit and another ship other then the Fleet Chimera but with a 0.99 Shield modifier try this to see what kind of results they get. It has to be the Fleet version of the Patrol Escort Refit. The C-Store version has a lower shield modifier.
Same core and same powerlevel for the shield on both?

Core was removed, and the power levels were set to identical settings
This is just random guess... but is it possible that shields of Chimera are higher because of it's Regenerative Mode?
Have you tried putting it in Tactical mode and check shield HP?

That's actually an interesting idea, I'll check it as soon as am able. However, I doubt Regen mode affects Shield HP. It's a heal over time. But still it's worth a look.

Have you tried putting it in Tactical mode and check shield HP?
It looks like Regenerative mode may actually be the reason for the shield discrepancy. It reads in the description that it adds to Shield hit points. So, maybe the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit shield modifier is fine.
