It would be easier to help you if you say which ship, what content you plan to play (PvE or PvP) and what equipment you prefer (torpedoes, beams, DHC's).
It would be nice to not have these new ships - Last thing this game needs is yet more tactically orientated ships

I'm not sure there is great synergy to do that, but it seems like it could be done.
I can already hear the outrage. My guess is, that Cryptic will tweak it to the point, that you can only equip one Quad Cannon per Ship regardless of Energy Type.
Hmmm.... KDF and Rommies don't have a Fleet-only ship yet (like the Aquarius) So maybe that's what we're looking at here?
